Doors for the hospitality sector

Last week we looked at some of the requirements that are specific to the commercial sector when specifying doors. This week, we will turn our attention to the hospitality sector.

Construction or refurbishment projects in the hospitality sector, particularly with hotels and country retreats, tend to be quite extreme when it comes to the broad spectrum of performance requirements for the doors. We have one of the most comprehensive certified product ranges available in the UK. So for even the most complex project, you can source all your doors from one expert supplier.

Beautiful hardwood doors

Imagine a fine country estate that’s been converted into a hotel. Stone steps lead up to an imposing front door, through which you enter a beautifully decorated and thoughtfully lit reception hall. Off the reception hall are doors leading to the bar, restaurant, stairwell and the corridor to the ground floor bedrooms. First impressions count, so these doors need to look the part but they also need to comply with some stringent fire and acoustic performance criteria. Some beautiful bespoke hardwood doors from our DorSuite range would be perfect for this part of the project.

Robust veneered doors

As we venture further into the hotel, our journey takes us along the corridor to the bedrooms. This is a busy hotel, so the doors need to be robust and durable whilst still in keeping with the high-end feel of this exclusive establishment. These doors also need to be certified to meet all the necessary fire and acoustic regulations and need to be fitted with locks operated by key-cards. Bespoke doors from our Noberne range with a stunning hardwood veneer would fit the bill.

Performance doors

Behind reception we have some doors leading to the back office, kitchens and laundry. Behind the scenes, the doors are not on view to the public but still need to be robust enough to withstand the regular knocks from trolleys and kicks from the staff whose hands are full. Here we might recommend the high-pressure laminate finish (which is easy to clean and impact resistant) on the stile and rail doors from our FireDoors range – still made with care from quality materials but value engineered to save some cost where possible.

Hygiene

Hygiene in public buildings and work places has never been more important, and we’ve got this covered too, with an antimicrobial lacquer available on all our solid hardwood doors and those finished with a hardwood veneer.

Advantages of doorsets

Whilst we can supply door leaves on their own if required, we would always recommend specifying doorsets (where the door leaf and frame are supplied as set). Not only does this mean that all the components have been tested and certified together, it also greatly simplifies the installation and means the doors can be fitted later in the build, reducing the risk of damage.
