With new levels of accountability coming throughout the supply chain, Performance Doors are developing some new technology that will revolutionise the fire doors industry!
As a result of Dame Judith Hackitt’s independent review of Building Regulations and fire safety, the Government is proposing to introduce new levels of accountability for compliance with the regulations in multiple-occupancy buildings.
These changes will see the implementation of a ‘golden thread of accountability’ throughout the supply chain. It will affect manufacturers, building designers, contractors, sub-contractors, project managers, building owners and those managing, letting or leasing the building.
These accountable people will need to be able demonstrate upon demand, that the doors in the building are fully certified, have been installed correctly, are properly maintained, have been repaired or replaced as necessary, and have not been altered outside of the scope of the testing and certification regime.
These are significant changes with potentially serious consequences for non-compliance.
As a leading UK manufacturer of fire doors, we at Performance Doors take our responsibility very seriously. Not only do we have one of the most comprehensive ranges of independently tested and certified fire doors, we are developing some new technology that will be ready early in 2021 – it will revolutionise the way fire doors are monitored for compliance throughout the whole life cycle of the door.
This tried and tested technology will offer significant benefits to everyone in the supply chain, and particularly those in facilities management, who will need to take on-going responsibility and accountability for all the doors in the building.
We’re really excited by this development, and can genuinely see that every fire door, not just those in multiple-occupancy buildings, will soon be specified with this revolutionary technology.
